Cosby became interested in art as a result of fashion design. While studying the figure, painting over took her. "I realized through painting that I liked the people wearing the clothes more then the design itself," Cosby explains. "Painting became a means to give a personality to the people. They became more than just mannequins. I am interested in how people represent themselves with their wardrobe. Daily clothes become costumes for the day, a suggestion of who someone is. I develop the figure and composition of my work by focusing on the thoughts behind the subject. I think mood is a critical element of any environment. People are good at hiding what they feel good or bad and I think that someone's disposition can alter an environment. I like to do this with my work. I place the persons temperament into the background.

Cosby studied art and advertising at the University of North Florida. She interned at the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. There, she designed part of a fund raising campaign the museum sent to their patrons. She also managed a local art gallery for about a year. Cosby is very involved in the Jacksonville art community, she volunteers with MOCA Jacksonville, Art with the heart and Art Sparks. "I am happy to help with events that keep our city actively involved and excited about art and artists in Jacksonville, Florida and I'm proud to be a part of Jacksonville's emerging art community," said Cosby.
